TDOT News Release
Wilmot Road And Park Place Drive Intersection Improvement: Park Place Drive Turn Restrictions
Posted: 10/02/2009
Beginning on Monday, October 5, 2009, at 6 a.m., left turns from northbound Wilmot Road to Park Place Drive will be prohibited. The closure will be in place for about 30 days to allow work crews to reconstruct the Wilmot Road/Park Place Drive median island and to reconstruct the Park Place Drive entryway. Southbound Wilmot Road right turns onto Park Place Drive will be allowed.
Left turns from eastbound Park Place Drive to northbound Wilmot Road continue to be prohibited until the end of October 2009.
Borderland Construction Co. Inc., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), is making improvements to the Wilmot Road and Park Place Drive intersection. The project, which is scheduled to be complete in mid November 2009, will add an additional right lane on northbound Wilmot Road from Malvern Street to Broadway.
Improvements also include a dedicated right turn lane from southbound Wilmot Road to Park Place Drive, the reconfiguration of the median island on Wilmot Road, new curbs, new asphalt and a new traffic signal.
The traveling public can expect delays when driving, bicycling or walking in this work area. Business access will be maintained. For your safety, please observe all traffic control signage, message boards, and obey reduced speed limits. Watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work zone.
This project is funded through the Regional Transportation Authority and is being managed by TDOT. Voters approved the RTA in May 2006.
