Wilmot Road And Park Place Drive Intersection Improvement Traffic Signal Work
Posted: 09/10/2009
On Thursday, September 10, 2009, work crews will be removing existing traffic signals and energizing temporary traffic signals at the Wilmot Road and Park Place Drive intersection. This work will begin at 7 a.m. and is scheduled to be complete by 3 p.m. Officers from the Tucson Police Department will be stationed at the intersection to help direct traffic until the traffic signals are activated.
Borderland Construction Co. Inc., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), is making improvements to the Wilmot Road and Park Place Drive intersection. The project, which is scheduled to be complete in mid November 2009, will add an additional right lane on northbound Wilmot Road from Malvern Street to Broadway.
Improvements also include a dedicated right turn lane from southbound Wilmot Road to Park Place Drive, the reconfiguration of the median island on Wilmot Road, new curbs, new asphalt and a new traffic signal.
The traveling public can expect delays when driving, bicycling or walking in this work area. Business access will be maintained. For your safety, please observe all traffic control signage, message boards, and obey reduced speed limits. Watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work zone.
This project is funded through the Regional Transportation Authority and is being managed by TDOT. Voters approved the RTA in May 2006.
