Speedway Boulevard And Second Avenue Pedestrian Improvements

Crews from the City of Tucson Department of Transportation Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division started work today to construct a pedestrian median island on Speedway Boulevard at Second Avenue. Eastbound and westbound travel on Speedway Boulevard at this location will be reduced to one travel lane through 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2009.

On Thursday, August 6, 2009 through Wednesday, August 12, 2009, crews will continue to construct the median island. However, single lane travel restrictions will only be in place from 4 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., except for Friday, August 7, 2009, when no work will take place. The project is scheduled to be complete on August 12, 2009.

The traveling public can expect delays when driving, bicycling or walking in this work area. For your safety, please observe all traffic control signage, message boards, and obey reduced speed limits. Watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work zone.
