Transportation Open House: Public Input Sought On Irvington Road Traffic From Mission Road to Interstate 19
Posted: 05/19/2009
Ward 1 Vice Mayor Regina Romero and the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) will be hosting a pre design/planning open house to collect public comment on existing travel patterns and potential improvements to Irvington Road between Mission Road and Interstate 19.
The meeting will take place Thursday, May 21, 2009, at Pima Community College’s Desert Vista Campus in the Ocotillo Room, 5901 S. Calle Santa Cruz. The open house will take place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. There will be no formal presentation. The public is encouraged to meet with TDOT staff and fill out comment cards on traffic patterns and other issues specific to this stretch of Irvington Road.
“As soon as I was elected into office, I requested City Transportation staff to designate funds for a traffic study of Irvington and I-19. The traffic congestion poses a serious issue to our residents in the south west part of our city,” said Regina Romero, Vice Mayor, Ward 1 council office.
A Traffic Impact Analysis/Corridor Study will be prepared for this segment of Irvington Road. The study will analyze various options for controlling access, as well as look at the impacts of short-term and long-term capacity improvements in an effort to address existing traffic congestion. Development impact fees are funding the current study effort.
