Fourth Avenue Underpass Construction Alert

This is a continuing series of construction alerts that will be issued throughout the construction of the Fourth Avenue Underpass Improvement Project. These alerts will announce construction, detour and closure information as it affects traffic. Motorists are asked to obey all posted speed limit signs within the construction area and be alert for construction crews and personnel working in the area.

PLEASE NOTE: OTHER DOWNTOWN CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY UNRELATED TO THE 4TH AVENUE UNDERPASS PROJECT MAY ALSO AFFECT TRAFFIC.

LANE CLOSURES

• On Tuesday, February 17, 2009, the right lane of westbound Congress Street, at the intersection of Fifth Avenue, will be closed while the contractor completes utility work in the area.
• On Wednesday, February 18, 2009, the left lane of westbound Congress Street, at the intersection of Fifth Avenue, will be closed while the contractor completes utility work in the area.
• On Wednesday, February 18, 2009 and Thursday, February 19, 2009, traffic at the intersection of Congress Street and Fifth Avenue will be shifted in order to accommodate workers and equipment in the area.

The following traffic impacts remain in effect:

• Fourth Avenue Underpass is closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
• Fourth Avenue businesses can be reached by using 6th Street.

Parking is available at the Pennington Street Garage. The entrance to the garage is located on Scott Avenue, just north of Congress Street.
