Street Name Change Procedure
By intergovernmental agreement, Pima County Addressing is responsible for all street names and addresses, including street-name changes. All requests for street name change must be approved by Pima County Addressing for conformance with standards, such as avoiding duplication, and proper use of foreign words. Requests for street name changes shall be accompanied by the written consent of the owners of more than 50% by number of the properties addressed from the street. Consent petitions shall be on forms provided by the Pima County Development Services Department.
Street name changes for streets within in the City of Tucson that are found in conformance with Pima County Addressing standards and meet the petition requirement are submitted to the City of Tucson Mayor and Council for approval, and then recorded with the County Recorder. The petitioner shall bear all the costs related to the street name change, including any fees and costs for replacing street name signs.
